XMM - Newton VIEW OF THE PROTOTYPE NARROW - LINE SEYFERT 1 GALAXY I ZW 1
We present results based on an XMM-Newton observation of the prototype narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy I Zw 1 performed in June 2002. The 0.6−12 keV spectrum is well described by a steep power-law (Γ ∼ 2.3) and a weak soft blackbody component (kT ∼ 200 eV) below 2 keV. The soft X-ray excess emission is featureless and contributes only ∼ 10% to the total X-ray emission in the 0.6− 2 keV band. There...
متن کاملZw 1 observed with XMM - Newton Low - energy spectral complexity , iron lines , and hard X - ray flares
We present a 20 ks XMM-Newton observation of the prototypical Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 galaxy I Zw 1. The best-fit model to the data is a double blackbody plus a dominant power-law, on which complex soft absorption (possibly a blended edge or absorption lines) and/or OVII emission are superimposed, as well as strong Fe Kα emission. The iron feature in the high-energy spectra appears broad; however...
متن کاملFlares observed with XMM-Newton and the VLA
We present lightcurves obtained in X-ray by the XMM-Newton EPIC cameras and simultaneous radio lightcurves obtained with the VLA for five active M-type flare stars. A number of flare events were observed, and by comparing radio with X-ray data, we consider various possible flare mechanisms. In cases where there seems to be a clear correlation between radio and X-ray activity, we use an energy b...
متن کاملAWM 4 - an isothermal cluster observed with XMM - Newton
We present analysis of an XMM-Newton observation of the poor cluster AWM 4. The cluster is relaxed and its X-ray halo is regular with no apparent substructure. Azimuthally averaged radial spectral profiles suggest that the cluster is isothermal to a radius of at least 160 kpc, with no evidence of a central cooling region. Spectral mapping shows some significant temperature and abundance substru...
متن کاملChemical evolution in Sérsic 159 - 03 observed with XMM - Newton
Using a new long X-ray observation of the cluster of galaxies Sérsic 159-03 with XMM-Newton, we derive radial temperature and abundance profiles using single-and multi-temperature models. The fits to the EPIC and RGS spectra prefer multi-temperature models especially in the core. The radial profiles of oxygen and iron measured with EPIC/RGS and the line profiles in RGS suggest that there is a d...
